Meet friends, have fun and keep speaking English

The social programme is a weekly offering of activities which complement your English language lessons.

A social activity gives you an opportunity to meet new friends and discover everything Brighton and the UK has to offer, and it’s a great way to extend and practise your English. Some activities are free of charge, some are with a Social Activities Organiser while others are suggestions for you to do with friends or on your own, some have a fee which depends on the duration, the distance and the cost of the activity itself.

We offer a wide range of activities, local tours and weekend excursions: - activities include sports, quizzes, conversation club and a walking tour of Brighton on your first day. Typical costs are £5 to £20. - local tours include visits to Lewes, Arundel, Rottingdean, Seven Sisters and Beachy Head. these tours typically cost £10 to £30. - full-day weekend excursions are to destinations such as London, Oxford, Cambridge, Bath & Stonehenge, Canterbury & Leeds Castle. Typical costs are £40 to £85.

We employ a full-time member of staff - Social Activities Organiser - to organise the programme. When you arrive at the school in Brighton on your first day, we’ll explain how activities work, introduce you to the Social Activities Organiser and what you have to do to sign up (reserve a place) on the activities, trips and excursions that you’re interested in. We also offer weekend excursions through a local company Discovery Tours.

Once you’re in school, we can also help you to plan other things you might like to do independently.

This is most definitely a staged photograph. It shows four people who could quite easily be job applicants three women and one man. They are all seated at similar looking chairs and the ground is plain grey. The candidates are also all wearing grey white or black. This image is being used for the idea that it is important these days in many jobs to have a good command of the English language and the “English with English for work” course is aimed at people who will be entering employment soon and who may need English for their work.
